GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
It is the AHL Mascot's responsibility for ensuring that all elements of the Mascot program are in working order, and being used to the best of their ability. The mascot program involves all three teams; the Spurs, Rampage, and Silver Stars. This includes all appearances, game operation duties, and general administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Appearances
Responsible for performing at a maximum of 200 appearances throughout the fiscal year (July 1 - June 30), which may include Coyote, Fox, or T-Bone costume work as necessary.
Coordinate between the Senior Mascot and the C.R./Booking Coordinator to ensure that pertinent information is being conveyed in a timely manner, in order to better perform at appearances.
Utilize the assistants established by the Manager of Mascot Development for each and every appearance. If not assistant is available, it is the responsibility of the Manager of Mascot Development to assist.
Work with the Manager of Mascot Development and Senior Mascot to receive training in a manner consistent with the character, and to work together as a team to collect the necessary tools with whichh to perform to their fullest extent. These tools include costume pieces, props, and any other entity necessary to perform an appearance timely and fully.
Responsible for working out any differences incurred between any of the parties involved in mascot appearances. If no remedy is immediately available, ensure that the dispute is taken to the Manager of Mascot Development.
Work with the Senior Mascot to maintain inventory of appearances performed, and who performed them. This list will be periodically checked against the Booking Coordinator's list and provided to the Director of Game Operations and Promotions on a weekly basis.
Assist in any additional duties assigned by the Manager of Mascot Development and/or the Director of Game Operations and Promotions.
Game Operations
Perform as T-Bone at all Rampage home games (41). Assist The Fox at all Silver Stars home games (18). Perform as The Coyote and The Fox during games as deemed necessary by the Manager of Mascot Development for training purposes.
Work with the Manager of Mascot Development and Senior Mascot to receive cross-training of all SS&E Mascots (Spurs, Silver Stars, and Rampage).
Work with Senior Mascot to ensure that a video library of skits, including intros, is created and that the Director of Game Operations and Promotions is provided a copy.
Work with the Senior Mascot and the Manager of Mascot Development to create, develop, and implement mascot skits performed as Spurs, Silver Stars, and Rampage games.
Communicate to all necessary parties (Lighthouse, Audio, etc.) as to what the intended skit will be, and what participation will be required. This should be done with twenty-four hours notice whenever possible.
Work with Senior Mascot and the Manager of Mascot Development to ensure that all props, signs, etc. are kept up in a manner suitable for showing at games and appearances. To alert the Manager of Mascot Development if new props or signage is necessary
Ensure game props are kept organized and in good condition, and put away appropriately after each game.
Assist in any additional duties assigned by the Manager of Mascot Development and/or the Director of Game Operations and Promotions.
General Administration
Use office hours to work on developing the character's craft (props, shooting, drill, skits, video features, etc.)
Answer phone in a timely manner, return voice mails, keep updated on computer, keep organized and neat files and work area. Punctuality is important in this position.
Attend meetings, as necessary.
