Rick Hunter uses Texas iconography with an unusual twist – he plays he plays with perspective and color to create artistic images of common Texas symbols. His work in the AT&T Center depicts an interesting perspective on a bundle of hay, a close-up view of watermelon juice, and the indescribable poignancy of an old truck. Hunter is currently working on long-term projects including portraying youth gangs in San Antonio and capturing images of the back roads of the Lone Star state in the long-term project and series “Waltz Across Texas.”

Hunter is a self-taught photographer who started his career in 1987 as an Army photojournalist at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. He subsequently served as staff photographer for the San Antonio Express-News for more than ten years.
