The colorfully narrative series of Texas ranching images by Janet Eager Krueger evokes a sense of pride and nostalgia for the unique culture and lifestyle cherished by Texans. Krueger’s vibrant depiction of subject matter such as “Rodeo Queen” and “Escaramuza” strikes a chord of familiarity in the heart of every Texan. Krueger draws upon her ranching background as inspiration for each painting. Her personal connection to the themes of her work is elaborated in further detail on the informative plaques next to each painting.

Krueger is currently an Associate Professor of Art at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas. She is also a founder and President of the Board of Directors of the non-profit organization Hecho en Encinal. This organization, located in Encinal, Texas is dedicated to bringing arts and humanities programming and projects to rural South Texas.
