AT&T Center Collection of Art: Charter Level, Parazette

Aaron Parazette (Houston)
Shape Study No. 7, 2001

Acrylic and enamel on linen
11 x 12 in.

Aaron Parazette’s shape studies break from the traditional rectangular canvas to focus instead on color combinations through stripes and grids. One art critic has appropriately labeled Parazette’s palette, “Brady Bunch” color schemes, in its retro combinations of earthy colors such as brown and olive green with bright yellows, blues and pinks.* Parazette’s invisible paint strokes and the clean, glossy surface come from using sign painters’ enamel.

Aaron Parazette received his BA in Painting at the University of South Florida in Tampa and his MFA at The Claremont Graduate School in Claremont, California and currently resides in Houston.
