AT&T Center smashes attendance records

January 29, 2010

AT&T Center is on track to set a new attendance record during the fiscal year for non-franchise events.

The previous record of 253,561 fans was set during the 2006-2007 fiscal year. However, as of Friday, AT&T Center’s attendance currently stands at 256,115 guests with five more months left of the fiscal year. The AT&T Center broke the previous record on Jan. 28 by hosting the Harlem Globetrotters.

The AT&T Center does not include attendance figures from regularly booked sports franchises such as the San Antonio Spurs, Silver Stars and Rampage when tabulating non-franchise attendance. The facility’s fiscal year runs from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010.

Some of the big name shows hosted at the AT&T Center included Tool, Miley Cyrus, George Lopez, World Wresting Entertainment, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Jones Brothers.

“We are excited about the number of successful events we have hosted at the AT&T Center so far this fiscal year,” AT&T Center Vice President and General Manager John Sparks says. “As we continue to challenge ourselves to bring the highest quality entertainment to the city of San Antonio, we look forward to continuing to surpass the record set last night.”
