Spurs Sports & Entertainment Lend a Hand to Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio

Yesterday the entire Spurs Sports & Entertainment family lent a hand to Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio in building 10 houses with over 300 volunteers as part of United Way's Days of Caring. We asked Ben Mayfield, the AT&T Center's plumber, to write a short blog about his experience:

"I first became involved with new construction of residential homes about 13 years ago. In that time I observed many stages of the homebuilding process and obtained my masters license in plumbing. I had always hoped that I would have the opportunity to someday share my skills with the Habitat for Humanity organization. It was exciting to hear Spurs Sports & Entertainment was sponsoring an event with Habitat, offering me the opportunity to give back to our community.

It was a great feeling to be involved and work with so many individuals with different talents and strengths. We all came together and worked as a team. From the time we set up everything for the day to when it came time to roll up the cords and sweep the floors, it felt right knowing that we were helping people within our community live the American Dream.

It’s always nice to look back at your days work and physically see progress – what was once just framework is now closer to becoming someone’s future home. I look forward to the opportunity to volunteer again.

This was truly a rewarding experience."
